The Dugway was the original road through Logan Canyon until The Wheeler and England Construction Company constructed a paved road from Logan to Bear Lake in 1939. There wasn't much to see at this site, not much of a trail to follow either. We did however have a little bit of excitement! Bruce and I were heading down the "trail" when I decided that the trail was too over grown to go any further, when I heard some ticking sounds. Bruce did too and he goes jumping off the trail after it and that's when the thing started to RATTLE! We start yelling at Bruce and for once he actually listened and came to us. We backed up and put Bruce on his leash. I found a big stick for Jeff and he started to poke around to try and find the snake, but it was gone. At that point we decided to turn around and go back. Then we headed to the Logan Cave.

Logan Cave
The Logan Cave is about 12 miles up the canyon, on the left hand side. We didn't think that we would have much fun here either because you can't actually go inside the cave and you have to stay back 250 feet. This is to protect the Townsend’s big-eared bats that live there. They are very sensitive and just walking past the mouth of the cave could make them leave and they don't come back. Much of the floor of the cave is a stream bed so it travels down to the road and creates a pretty waterfall. We did have fun in the waterfall, seeing the cave even though we couldn't go inside, and just being with each other!
